As a clinical social worker and the Director of Injury Prevention and the Community Violence Response Team, the mission and goals of SRS naturally align with mine.  I am devoted to ensuring equal access to care and services for those at Boston Medical Center with a focus on serving the underserved.  With SRS we can tackle the many social determinants of health as a group and educate the future surgical leaders to continue this work in their own careers.

ADVOCACY ELECTIVE

The SRS Advocacy Elective was started to instruct medical students on health policy, activism, and civic engagement to make change for patients at a local, state, national level. The curriculum is composed of instruction on the civic process and is complemented by speakers involved in the process themselves. Across their four years of medical school, students will choose a topic of interest and complete a Capstone project.
