Introduce future generations of surgeons to the concept of

disparities in surgical care and provide surgeons with the

tools to advocate for their patients and communities.

Aims:

• Increase education on the role social determinants of health play in surgical care.

• Incorporate advocacy training into surgical training.

• Integrate a social determinants of health curriculum in medical student and resident trainee programs.
